The Final Touches Before the Final Touches

Adam with Logic Drywall puts some mud in the gaps where the sheetrock meets our pretty beams.

Tricia scrapes off five layers of old linoleum from the kitchen floor. Note the walls taking shape in the back!

Larry and Wayne collaborate on our PEX plumbing. What great dads we have!

Tricia and Nancy protect our beams and posts - can you tell we like them?

After a hard Memorial Day weekend of work, Todd's parents pose for a quick picture - one of the few times the took a break. After last weekend it almost feels like we have a home. Thanks to everyone for their help!

Framing and plaster and doors, oh my!

Todd gets crazy with the sawzall.

Our new beautiful beams and posts.

Our friends Marco and Michael that installed the beams and even stabalized the beams in the basement so our house didn't fall down some day. It is amazing how bad some of the "handywork" was on our house from before.

Tricia removes the last of the plaster from our kitchen ceiling. Soon it will all be covered in new sheetrock!

Larry and Kathy install our new front door.

A new kitchen wall!

We opened up our kitchen wall to discover LOTS of water damage and rot... Not a good thing. We thought just maybe we could survive with our nice new plumbing and electrical, but then decided to go for broke!

So, our buddy Corey came over and lent his expertise to replace the wall. Here he and Tricia take off the siding and window in preparation.

And the wall is down!

Look at our beautiful new wall and kitchen window! (We put the electrical and plumbing back in place, too.)

And here is our waste for the day - another dumpster full to the brim.

Celebrating Memorial Day

Okay, so I don't have pictures ready yet, but here's a quick update.

As of today, our plumbing is complete, the new electrical is all set up from the street to our panel, walls are up and being mudded, the new gutters and roof repairs are working wonderfully, most of our rubbish is gone, and we've even started moving some things from Fremont to our new house (temporarily stored in the old garage).

Exciting changes! Our house is finally starting to look like a . . . house. I'll try and get some pictures in soon.

Some more (belated) remodeling pictures!

A few pictures from before our vacation. We'll get some images up of our trips to LaPush, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons soon! (once the plumbing, wiring, heating, framing, insulation, and drywall are done....)

Corey and Bethanie inspect our home...

Todd and Kathy removed some cabinetry so we could open up the hallway wall, making an island in our kitchen and a more circular flow.

Larry does his best to make right the many wrongs done by previous carpenters and "handymen." Here he is reframing the bathroom wall.

Enjoying a cold brew in our living room...

What was once a hallway and an entrance to the old garage (that had been converted to an indoor space, is now part of our bedroom again. The old garage is now our studio/multi-purpose room/workshop space.
